The Hong Kong Rugby Union today announced that it has secured government approval to allow eating in spectator stands in the Stadium over the weekend of the 2022 Cathay Pacific/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens (4-6 November).

Patrons attending the 2022 Cathay Pacific/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens can now consume food and beverages throughout the weekend in their seats.

“We are pleased to have received approval for food service during the Sevens. With three days of food, drink, music and plenty of thrilling sevens rugby on offer, the atmosphere inside the stadium is guaranteed,” said Robbie McRobbie, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Rugby Union.

To ensure compliance with health and safety measures, all fans attending the 2022 Hong Kong Sevens must present proof of a negative RAT result obtained on the day of the event at the entrance, otherwise they will be denied entry to the Stadium.

The attendee must mark the RAT test kit with their names and the date and time of taking the test. They should take a photo of the test kit and save it in their mobile phone - this will then be checked by event staff at the entrance of the Stadium daily.

This is in addition to standard protocols such as the requirement to scan the venue QR code using the LeaveHomeSafe app on entry, comply with the vaccination requirements applicable under the Vaccine Pass, and wear face masks at all times when not consuming food or drink. More specifically, spectators are reminded to wear their masks while watching the games and should put back their masks after eating and drinking.

The lift for the event experience comes just in time with the tournament kicking off in two weeks and limited tickets remaining before the Sevens reaches its attendance cap for November 2022 at 85% of venue capacity.

Tickets are available via the official HKRU Ticketing Platform at www.tickets.hkrugby.com.
