ASIA PACIFIC PADEL TOUR JOINS THE PARTY FOR 50th ANNIVERSARY CATHAY/HSBC HONG KONG SEVENS

12 March 2026

The Asia Pacific Padel Tour (APPT), Asia’s padel circuit, has partnered with Hong Kong China Rugby (HKCR) and is set to bring an APPT tour event to Hong Kong, to be played alongside the 50th Anniversary of the Cathay/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens at the Kai Tak Stadium from 17-19 April 2026.

The APPT Grand Slam Platinum Hong Kong 2026 event will take place from Friday to Sunday, 17-19 April 2026. Knockout rounds will also be played at a prominent local Hong Kong padel club with finals played on Sunday at the APPT Arena in the village at Kai Tak Sports Park.

Padel fans will need to enter the venue with valid General Admission Hong Kong Sevens tickets to watch the spectacle.

The 3-day knockout format pro-am tournament will feature top international players, alongside strong regional and local professional and amateur representation.

Confirming its enduring popularity, event-organisers Hong Kong China Rugby have confirmed that the Hong Kong Sevens event has sold over 100,000 tickets for the 2026 tournament.

Bryan Rennie, Executive Director of Commercial and Business Operations of Hong Kong China Rugby:

“Following our move to Kai Tak Sports Park, we've now got additional capacity to host events around the Cathay/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens. It is a chance for us to bring a sports festival to the precinct. It's great to have APPT on board to help stage this breakout event – building an exhibition padel court in the Fan Village is an opportunity we couldn't turn down in 2026. This should create excitement and a fantastic atmosphere within that area, with fans able to enjoy some top-quality padel alongside the rugby action in the main stadium. It’s a great addition to our 50th Anniversary celebrations.”

Carlos Carillo, Chief Executive Officer of the Asia Pacific Padel Tour:

“Padel is one of the fastest-growing sports in the world, and APPT is delighted to be partnering with HKCR. The inclusion of our tournament alongside the Sevens will be one of the biggest padel events in Asia. With our sports-focused demographics, there is a lot of audience crossover with our strong padel-travelling support base. The tournament will be a significant inflection point for padel in Hong Kong and across the region.”

The APPT has a strong track record in all major padel markets across Asia and is leading in grassroots-to-elite padel development pathways in Asia. APPT has active partnerships with Asia's top padel clubs. Its tour comprises over 2,600 registered and officially ranked players with 90+ nationalities represented on the APPT circuit.

A Celebrity ProAm event for sponsors, celebrities, media and KOLs will take place on Thursday 16 April 2026. Corporates can enquire about additional use of the Kai Tak court on Friday and Saturday for unique one-off padel experiences along with team entries and partnership opportunities, for enquiries please contact [email protected].
