Inspired by an outstanding performance by captain DJ Forbes, the Sevens All Blacks of New Zealand beat England 26-7 in wet conditions to clinch the Cathay Pacific/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens.

In winning the Hong Kong title for the first time since 2011, the New Zealanders open up a seven-point lead at the top of the HSBC Sevens World Series over South Africa, who lost to England in the Cup quarters but finished strongly to beat Wales to the Plate.

Earlier, the Brave Blossoms of Japan defeated Italy 26-5 in the final of the separate 12-team qualifier competition to win core team status and become an ever-present on the HSBC Sevens World Series 2014/15.

Draw made for Round 8 in Scotland

The pool draw was made in Hong Kong for round 8 of the current Series, the Emirates Airline Glasgow Sevens on 3-4 May at Scotstoun Stadium.

As the Hong Kong champions, New Zealand head Pool A in Glasgow and face a mouth-watering tie against closest rivals, South Africa, as well as Samoa and Portugal. England will play Canada, France and newly-promoted Japan in Pool B. Fiji face Wales, Argentina and Kenya in Pool C and Australia will face USA, hosts Scotland and Spain in Pool D.
