In light of the emergence of the 2019 Novel Coronavirus (2019 N-Cov), the Hong Kong Rugby Union has curtailed its public match schedule for the coming fortnight and is advising the rugby community to maintain vigilant personal and environmental hygiene at present.
Regular physical exercise remains a key method of enhancing overall wellness and strengthening immunity and we look forward to returning to full action soon.
In the interim, the HKRU fully supports the extraordinary measures being put in place to halt the transmission of the virus. Given our direct experience of hosting the tournament under the threat of similar coronavirus outbreaks, (SARS in 2003), we remain confident in, and fully committed to, the hosting of the Sevens tournament on 3-5 April 2020.
At present, alongside World Rugby and the Hong Kong Government, the HKRU is maintaining a close watching brief on the situation and will align with all safety guidelines and practices put forward by global and local health bodies around this issue.
