The 2015 Cathay Pacific/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens, organised by The Hong Kong Rugby Football Union (HKRFU) marks the 40th year of the sevens in Hong Kong, with 120,000 visitors expected to participate in the event.
The world-famous Hong Kong tournament retains its status as the largest on the HSBC Sevens World Series (HSBC SWS) with 16 international teams contesting the HSBC Sevens World Series core team competition and an additional 12 teams contesting the international HSBC Sevens World Series qualifier for a chance at promotion to the international series in 2016.
The 15 core teams on the HSBC SWS return to delight the fans in Hong Kong as the world's finest exponents of world seven-a-side rugby. New Zealand are the defending Cathay Pacific/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens champions after their 26-7 victory over England in last year's cup final.

*The sixteenth team invited by World Rugby to round out the HSBC SWS core competition in Hong Kong will be Belgium, marking their first appearance at the world-renowned Cathay Pacific/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens. They become the 57th nation to have participated in Hong Kong since the tournament's inception in 1976.

The official tournament draw for all 28 participating teams took place in Hong Kong on 16 February 2015.
With women's rugby gaining in stature every year, 12 international women's teams will compete in the Cathay Pacific/HSBC Hong Kong Women's Sevens.Once again, the final will be played in the main stadium on opening day of the tournament, Friday, in the evening.
Friday will also see two rounds of the qualification pool matches played alongside the opening pool matches of the HSBC SWS core competition in Hong Kong (one match per core team).

Mini Games
On each morning of the tournament before the official games begin, there will be a Mini Games youth showcase taking place on the pitch. Arrive when the gates open to see players between the ages of 7-12 years battling it out for glory.

Entertainment
On Saturday, the party atmosphere and sartorial mayhem of the Sevens will provide a fitting welcome for a performance by international recording artists the Village People, whose hit songs "Go West", "In the Navy" and "Y.M.C.A." have been ringing around stadiums almost since the first Hong Kong Sevens in 1976. Singing along is mandatory.
